Our Mission
The Nasry Michelen Foundation supports undergraduate and graduate students pursuing careers in the Allied Health sciences. By promoting excellence through mentoring and financial support via scholarships, the foundation seeks to create an atmosphere that will encourage lifelong learning and commitment to diverse underrepresented communities. The foundation seeks to foster the continued growth of its’ award recipients by recommending prospective students to internship opportunities. It also seeks to identify Dominican‐American students and other underrepresented groups with high academic potential who wish to pursue careers in Allied Health.

Dr. Nasry Michelen
Devoted family man, medical doctor, community activist, professor, executive in both public and private institutions, Dr. Michelen had a prolific and visionary career, leaving a permanent mark on communities not only in his country of origin, where he served as superintendent of health and built hospitals, but also in New York City and the United States. Among his most notable contributions were serving as one of the founders and the first president of Hostos Community College, as well as successfully advocating for the building of a new Lincoln Hospital, of which he later served as President.
